It's true. Enes Kanter wants to be a Splash Brother. He wants to be able to nail 3-pointers like Steph Curry and Klay Thompson? Apparently, he meant like Al Horford, or at least like Aron Baynes.
So is this a good thing, or is it bad. Agreeing with Brother Andej, first of all, we need defense from Kanter. We also need his rebounding. The latter skill is fine. The former needs work.
Hitting the occasional trey when Enes is open makes sense, so practicing shots beyond the arc is fine. But sitting out there waiting for the pass to launch a 3-pointer too much of the time? I say nay. Kanter needs to work towards his strengths. Bully opponents under the basket - grab the boards - defend the rim - cover the perimeter when he has to.
I am among the Celtics fans that feel Brad Stevens relies too much on the 3-point shot. The other new guy in town, Kemba Walker, has a history of attacking the rim and taking contact. Enes needs to attack down low - take the contact - and hit his free throws, something he does well (84% with New York last season). What do our readers think? There's an obvious push for Enes Kanter to start shooting 3-pointers. He said he wants to add that to his game this summer.

“Aron Baynes, Al Horford, they become a splash brother, so I think it could change for me too. I believe it.”

Theres an even more obvious push by the fans pleading NO. Especially, and assumingly, when we start Hayward or Tatum at the 4, why have Enes sitting in the corner on offense when he should be doing what hes elite at and what we need him for? Getting rebounds!
