Gordon Hayward did not play last night in the Celtics 109-103 win over the Dallas Mavericks due to prolonged soreness in his surgically-repaired left foot. Hayward has been bothered by foot discomfort since before his hand injury. In MRI three weeks ago revealed no structural damage, but he will undergo another similar test tomorrow.
Here's hoping tomorrow's MRI once again shows no physical damage, indicating that what Gordon is experiencing is simply the result of increased playing time over last season and his increased intensity on the court. He logged 25.9 minutes per game last season, and in 11 games thus far this year he is up to 30.6 MPG. Add in the fact he has been taking it to the hoop with more authority this season and racking up more dunks, and we hope that is the basis of the soreness. Stay with us for updates on his condition.
