Is Jayson Tatum ready to take over the reins of the Boston Celtics? The quick answer to my question is - most likely. This is how Forbes.com portrays a great leader:
“A great leader possesses a clear vision, is courageous, has integrity, honesty, humility and clear focus. ... Great leaders help people reach their goals, are not afraid to hire people that might be better than them and take pride in the accomplishments of those they help along the way.”
Watching him on the floor, we see a young man who, with his play, leads by remaining calm and collected - except when calls don't go his way. But Tatum is young and may need a bit more seasoning.”Show me Jayson Tatum actually guarding somebody and locking them down” pic.twitter.com/ntOhTp7i5Y

Jayson has the cherished capability to score at will. He continues to improve on his long-range bombs, mid-range shots and driving into the paint. But referring again to Forbes.com's definition of a "great leader", this superstar still needs to work on facilitating and making his teammates better.
Coming into the upcoming season with a new coach, we may expect the new-guy-at-the-helm to encourage Tatum to take on that leadership role. And maybe infusing some of Marcus Smart's on-court qualities into Tatum's mindset wouldn't hurt.
I feel, given his growth every season, this will be the year that Jayson ascends into that prototypical Celtics leader Boston fans know and love. And perhaps with a little of his own spin to it. Tatum's time is NOW!
