Well, it looks like it's happening. The word is that German point guard, Dennis Schroeder has agreed to sign a one-year, $5.9 million deal with the Boston Celtics with no guarantee of a starting role.

Per a source: Dennis Schroder signed with Boston with no expectation of a starting role. Celtics made it clear that Ime Udoka will evaluate roles and minutes. Also, this will be Udoka's decision only. The front office, led by Brad Stevens, will not get involved in PT decisions.
This contract is a far cry from the reported $84 million multi-year deal he turned down with the Lakers. Schroder's contract with Boston appears to be as team-friendly as it could possibly be. The dollar amount for only one year means that salary comes off the books in the 2022 off-season when Brad Stevens may be looking to sign that third star via free agency.
And with a projected starting lineup this coming season of Marcus Smart, Josh Richardson, Jaylen Brown, Jayson Tatum and Al Horford, Dennis will probably be backing up Marcus at the point.
