Despite much-depleted roster, Celtics come close vs. 76'ers, losing 108-103

     1st Quarter

Sluggish start for the good guys in green and white, want to know a good thing? Seeing JT getting to the rim and dropping the hammer. JTs willingness to get to the hoop over threes lately has been great to see. The more that young man drives the better this team plays.

Wolverine aka Marcus Smart with yet another steal for two. Smarts D has been very impressive lately. He truly deserves consideration for defensive player of the year. His overall effort on a regular basis is something to be admired.

     2nd Quarter

PP sees the floor in a very basketball savvy way. The more we see him on the the floor the better he gets. If he becomes the regular back up point guard we will see him get even better. He makes the right passes at the right time. He just has that knack to get the O going.

Aaron Crash 3Smith is another guy who with more playing time shows us he can make big plays. He's even willing to do the little things as well. If he can tighten up that three point shot and hit it regularly watch out! The one thing I would like to see is him moving off the ball more. Less standing in the corner, turn him into a Ray Allen type that can catch and shoot.

     3rd Quarter

Once again I sit here and wonder why are there so many guys standing at the three point line doing absolutely nothing. Is that spacing? How is this an offense? Whatever happened to moving the ball to get the best shot available? I'd love to know what Imes offensive philosophy is?

Driving JB is my favorite JB. He is so silky smooth and quick getting to the hoop. What this writer loves even more is when he drives strong and flushes the ball down hard. I do love seeing JBs midrange game, remember when the Celtics drafted him and how raw he was. Look at how far he's come and how good he is. He is a top 25 player in the NBA.

     4th Quarter

The end of the game did not go the way Celtics fans wanted. The last time the Celtics played the Sixers they held Embid in check. Tonight not so much, this writer feels he gets alot of free calls from the refs and it makes me sick. This was a winnable game, these are the games you need to win, being healthy would help as well.

In defense of Marcus Smart

Let me make it clear first of all that I am totally against making a threat of any kind that even hints at harming, or certainly killing, another human being. Marcus Smart was wrong in doing so in the Celtics loss to the tanking Oklahoma City Thunder , and he deserved the one-game suspension. But to be honest, part of me loved that it occurred. . This type of thing can happen when a player gets to a point "beyond frustration" and is having a bad game. Marcus and his teammates have been under-performing generally - were in the process of losing to a pathetic-and-tanking Thunder team - and Smart was having a bad game . And he let loose verbally at the closest target - an NBA official. Wilt Chamberlain did a similar act versus referee, Earl Strom when Wilt was having his usual tortuous time at the free throw line (per Chicago Tribune's Sam Smith): ''He was in one of those 1-for-13s,'' recalls referee Earl Strom. ''Nothing was getting close. S...

Did the Celtics Kevin McHale really have a wingspan of 8-feet?

According to many sources, the Celtics Kevin McHale did indeed have an estimated wingspan of 8-feet.
