Game 1 of the Run to Banner 18

Kudos to TNT and their tribute to Bill Russell, totally had me welling up. That man was an amazing human being, and in my opinion the GOAT. It's up on this Celtics team to bring home Banner 18 in his honor.

Dear Celtics thank you for last season, it was the most trying time I've ever had in my life. Yet watching and writing about you got me through it. Thank you from the bottom of my heart - Celtic Knight...

 Quarter 1☘️

Here we go it's step one along the journey to Banner 18. It's going to be a hard long road, but at the end the sweetest victory awaits. Excellent D to open up the game by the C's! JT for threeeeeeeee! In yo face Embid! JT telling Maxey to get that weak stuff out of his house in a Russell like manner! The Celtics D has come to play! Once again showing how dominant they can be on D!

Great D is what leads to championships, and this team loves to get down and dirty on D! The refs are already starting to plot against the C's on a horrid flagrant foul called on Al Horford. I can hear Tommy Heinsohn from Heaven letting some colorful words fly in the refs direction. Not going to be easy tonight, Sixers are getting the calls it's going to make for a long game.

JB is playing very tentatively, he's usually the match that lights the fire. He needs to stop overthinking and just play his game!  Love the increased pace by the C's! Keep running, and taking the fight to Philly! MB has entered the game and I can't wait to see him move the ball! Great job by the C's on the offensive glass, but not coming away with points shouldn't happen.

Way to many fouls, and seeing Harden get a free ride to the line is just sickening! When the refs take over these games it's sluggish and takes away from the beauty of basketball. Celtics trail 29-24 label me as annoyed.

Quarter 2🍀🍀

I don't like listening to when announcers justify how bad these NBA refs are. These refs are inconsistent and incompetent at times. You have to love the Celtics help D on Embid, especially when it's your top dawg JT. Malcolm getting in the middle of the D finds Vonleh for the deuce. I'm telling you, if he stays healthy he's winning the 6th man of the year award.

You have to love how hard Noah Vonleh is playing tonight. He's giving Embid a hard time on D, on offense he's doing his job well. He's making the most of his opportunities tonight. JB is finally getting himself going tonight. Not only is he scoring but he's finding guys for open shots.

JT going to the hoop, has to be my favorite Jayson Tatum. He's getting there so effortlessly tonight! It's going to be a huge weapon for him this season. There are no true shot blockers in today's NBA, so exploit them JT! JB and JT are showing why they are super studs in today's NBA.

Celtics D has been very disappointing, at the half it's all knotted up at 63.

Quarter 3☘️☘️☘️

We have a bit of a tussle, gotta say I don't mind seeing it. That shows fire for our beloved Celtics! Let's bring some of that old school NBA back! Hopefully this spurs the Celtics to tighten up on the defensive end. Bring that attitude each and every defensive play!

Great drive by DWhite, getting the contact and basket. We definitely need to see more out of him tonight. He showed he could shoot the lights out during the preseason. We need some of that tonight, the Sixers are ripe for the picking. He's a guy who is going to see a lot minutes out there. Make em count!

The Jay Team is the going to be one of the best duos in the NBA this season! Each player posseses great skills on both ends of the floor. They do a lot of similar things but in a different ways. It's so exciting to watch them grow as players and teammates. Now all they need to do is start winning rings together.

Al being in foul trouble has hurt his overall flow in tonight's game. Once again let me share my displeasure with these refs. Nice to see the Celtics build a lead in the third instead of coming out flat like they have past seasons. Anyone else find watching James Hardens game to be unappealing?! To me he's just not enjoyable to watch.

Maybe I'm getting old, but with all these calls the game feels longer than normal. Oh and today's music stinks and get off my lawn! That's my try at humor, back to the game. JT looks AMAZING! At the end of the third we see the Celtics leading 98-88.

Quarter 4🍀🍀🍀🍀

Shaky start, but they have overcome it. A nice steal by JB, and then challenges Embid going to the hoop! JB for threeeeeeeee! How about how good they are looking right now. Holding the lead and doing what's needed on both ends!

Time for the C's to close out the game, it's time to put those nails in the coffin! We have yet another terrible call on the C's, you can't breathe on Embid without getting a whistle. It's so embarrassing for the NBA to allow this favoritism to occur. Then on the flip JT gets a T for what?!?

Downtown Jaylen Brown with yet another threeeeeeeee! In honor of Tommy Heinsohn Bing-Bang-Boom! Tonight hasn't been perfect, but the Celtics have shown in spurts how good they can be. Malcolm Brogdon was huge off the bench tonight. Isn't it sweet when your two studs each score 35 points! The Jay Team came to play!

Celtics Win 126-117! Bleed Green! Celtic Pride!

In defense of Marcus Smart

Let me make it clear first of all that I am totally against making a threat of any kind that even hints at harming, or certainly killing, another human being. Marcus Smart was wrong in doing so in the Celtics loss to the tanking Oklahoma City Thunder , and he deserved the one-game suspension. But to be honest, part of me loved that it occurred. . This type of thing can happen when a player gets to a point "beyond frustration" and is having a bad game. Marcus and his teammates have been under-performing generally - were in the process of losing to a pathetic-and-tanking Thunder team - and Smart was having a bad game . And he let loose verbally at the closest target - an NBA official. Wilt Chamberlain did a similar act versus referee, Earl Strom when Wilt was having his usual tortuous time at the free throw line (per Chicago Tribune's Sam Smith): ''He was in one of those 1-for-13s,'' recalls referee Earl Strom. ''Nothing was getting close. S...
