Hawks welcome the C's

C's are in Atlanta, let's hope JB has a special couple of games for his hometown. C's have captured home court in the East I believe. Now it's about securing home court overall. This team is starting to really feel special to me. Even Joe has started to coach like he knows what it takes to win. We know he truly wants to bring a Banner home. He told the Great Cedric Maxwell that with tears in his eyes. I feel this entire team knows how special it will be to bring 18 home.

1Q ☘️

Game time is here, and the C's better come to play. No White or Holiday tonight. Till is also out. KP gets inside early and score easily. Hawks have no size to match up with KP or Al. What a nice step through by JT as he's on the board. That's something he can use come playoffs. Interesting lineup to start. JT and JB as the back court, Sam and Al as the forwards and KP is the center. I'm down with JT running the point today. I love seeing how he sees the court. The C's are challenging most of the Hawks shots. You have to love the contest and effort of the C's D. JB hits a three and gets fouled, the hometown kid is staring to cook. C's with an early ten point lead, and the Hawks need a timeout. Both Jays seemed lock in, and we are cooking up some Hawk right now! This Hawks court is ugly! As are their uniforms! We see our first sub in, with PP and he orchestrates an excellent play right off the back. Love what I've seen in this first quarter. Excellent ball movement, and pretty tight defense. Man that Hawk sound is beyond annoying. C's give up five quick points and Joe calls a timeout, that's growth folks. C's lead after the first. 🏀

2Q 🍀🍀

Svi for three! That's how we open up the second. Followed up by a fast break JT JAM! There is no let up in these C's tonight! If the C's keep this up, they'll be able to rest guys in the third! When the C's pass the ball, it's beyond basketball beautiful! They are such an unselfish team and it shows! They must keep up the intensity and work on both ends. This is the NBA and everyone makes a run. C's are out hustling the Hawks on every play. Keep it going all night long! Cue Lionel Ritchie! These Hawks really can't or won't play any defense. Al with the block, then on the break finds Sam in the corner for three! Talk about Al out hustle! C's are playing at an elite level right now. C's are up by thirty! C's must finish this quarter off with force! C's lead at the half! 🏀🏀

3Q ☘️☘️☘️

The C's didn't close the second the way they should have. That's why their lead is not where it should be. My hope is they come out ready to rock in the third. Need to get back to playing tight D and running an efficient offense. C's need to make up for the points they lost and build this lead back up. Attack the paint the Hawks have no answers at all! Cs run a great set by PP finding Al inside for two. C's are playing awful here in the third. No defense at all, they can't execute on offense, how is this possible??? Joe finally calls a timeout with all but no lead left. Awful basketball to this point here in the third. C's respond after the timeout by Joe and make some decent plays to build up a tiny cushion. Now they must close this third on a run. While I'm disgusted they lost the lead at least they have answered. PP has been huge in this third. C's with a small lead after three quarters. 🏀🏀🏀

4Q 🍀🍀🍀🍀

C's better find a run in themselves... This could be a disappointing loss if they don't figure it out. C's aren't playing any defense. C's don't know how to box out anymore. Great job by Jayden Springer off the rebound score the layup. Kid has no fear, and thats how he should be playing. JB hits the midrange and the C's have the lead! Pretty pure shot off the low pick and roll. C's need to freaking buckle down, and execute. JT just drove and broke the rim with a huge JAM! That's what he should do in all crunch time situations. Drive! Drive! Drive! JB with the rock and drives drawing the foul. JT with the big fall away jumper there. This game should have never been this close. JB hits a huge midrange jumper. Awful loss tonight. Disgusting awful loss.

In defense of Marcus Smart

Let me make it clear first of all that I am totally against making a threat of any kind that even hints at harming, or certainly killing, another human being. Marcus Smart was wrong in doing so in the Celtics loss to the tanking Oklahoma City Thunder , and he deserved the one-game suspension. But to be honest, part of me loved that it occurred. . This type of thing can happen when a player gets to a point "beyond frustration" and is having a bad game. Marcus and his teammates have been under-performing generally - were in the process of losing to a pathetic-and-tanking Thunder team - and Smart was having a bad game . And he let loose verbally at the closest target - an NBA official. Wilt Chamberlain did a similar act versus referee, Earl Strom when Wilt was having his usual tortuous time at the free throw line (per Chicago Tribune's Sam Smith): ''He was in one of those 1-for-13s,'' recalls referee Earl Strom. ''Nothing was getting close. S...
