C's look to Pace Themselves

Overtime...      C's have forced overtime after trailing by 24 points. Hali opens the scoring with a three. Kudos to Queta who has been giving everything he has tonight. DWhite ties the game with a three of his own! Never underestimate the heart of a champion. C's trail by one with about two minutes to go. JT aggressively attacks the rim and gets the call. Misses the first and hits the second. Tie game...      Queta has been amazing on the glass! Saving the C's multiple possessions! PP with a chance to tie this game at the line. Ice in his veins! C's grab the board with a chance to grab the lead! DWhite to the cup and there's a goaltend! He's freaking CLUTCH! Now it's time to exhibit that championship defense here. Pacers with the rock down by two. Siakim ties the game, C's call a timeout. C's have plenty of options out here, expect some type of pick and roll or pick and pop. Well Siakim hits the shot that wins the game. Great fight by the C's to...

Payton Pritchard looks like an "ordinary person" - except on the court

Payton Pritchard was asked about the fan support from so many Celtics faithful. His response was right on. This is a cool answer from Payton Pritchard on the fan support he receives: “I feel like it comes because I look like an ordinary person. I feel like I give hope to everybody that is the same size as me… With hard work you can make it a long way, & I’m a prime example of that.” pic.twitter.com/McTYJWikgt — Justin Turpin (@JustinmTurpin) October 29, 2024 On the streets of Boston, you would not pick out this guy in a crowd. "Only" 6'1" in height - short, no-fuss haircut - no visible tattoos - no outrageous outfits. Just an "ordinary person". Even on the basketball court, his movements don't suggest a high-level athlete with quickness and leaping ability. But then like last night versus the Bucks, Pritchard digs deep into his work ethic and wish (need?) to excel and explodes for major points (28 last night), dazzling accuracy (10-of-14 FG, 8-of...

The Greek Is In Town Opa!

Giannis and the Bucks come into Boston with questions. Giannis himself is wondering who his team is... They are 1-2 and don't have an identity. Unlike our Boston Celtics who are the best team in the NBA. It's always fun when the C's play the Bucks. Especially because Giannis is a truly special player. With that said Let's Go Celtics!  1Q🏀    Here we go, it's game time! So far it's a scoreless first. C's have come out a bit cold, kinda like the temperature out there tonight. C's ball movement is there but the shots aren't falling. Al Horford with the block of the game already! Sent the shot by Giannis out like grease lightning! That block lead to DWhite scoring in transition. DWhite followed up the layup with a beautiful three pointer. DWhite has the C's first seven points.       C's better be careful because Dame looks locked in early on. Jaylen Brown has transformed his body into a machine. He's absolutely ripped and barely fits i...

Jaylen Brown excelling in multiple categories this season

While his comrade, Jayson Tatum , is starting the season looking like an MVP, Jaylen Brown is also off to a great start. After three games, all wins for Boston, the 6'6" SG/SF l eads his team in minutes (32.7 MPG), rebounds (8.3 RPG) and steals (2.0 SPG). But what really stands out is Jaylen's free throw accuracy . His career stats show him hitting on 72.0% of his freebies, but he is nailing 89.5% of his free throws this season . Furthermore, he is hitting 45.8% of his 3-pointers in the three games thus far , despite a career percentage of 36.4% on his shots from the hinterlands. We are only talking about three games here, but it is apparent that Brown has been once again working on his game in the off-season. Could we be looking at two Celtics players being in the MVP discussion this season? Entirely possible.

C's Motor Into Detroit

First Quarter 🏀      C's jump out to a 10-4 lead do to some excellent ball movement. We have our wise Jedi Al Horford leading by example tonight. I tell ya Al never seems to truly age. He's the consummate pro and one of my favorites on this team. I'll go out on a limb and say he's making the Hall of fame one day.       This Pistons pace is very fast, C's need to slow them down. On the other end we see the flawless ball movement by the C's leading to a JT three. Swish! JT finds the same spot on the next possession and let's it fly again. Swish! JT goes side to side and nails his third three in a row! Swish! As Tommy used to say Bing Bang Boom!       Do you ever just watch Jrue Holiday play defense. The way he gets his body into the offensive player is stout. He uses his physical nature to affect those he's guarding. He doesn't even give them an inch. He always keeps himself between the player and the rim. I love watching him ...

Neemias Queta may be a long-term solution for Celtics

The Celtics Brad Stevens Feels he has a keeper in Neemias Queta - as evidenced by the 3-year, $7.2 million contract the 7-foot center signed prior to the 2024-25 season.  The Portuguese import has the size, athleticism and youth (25 years old) to man the center spot for Boston, and he has started this season on a good note. In the two games thus far (both wins for Boston), Queta is averaging 6.0 PPG and 3.5 RPG in a mere 9.0 minutes per game . He still lacks a reliable shot from any distance, but he is a menace around the rim - at both ends of the court. Shout-out to Neemias Queta for his hustle ☘️ He was working HARD against the Wizards last night. Finished with 12 points (5-7 FG) and 7 rebounds (4 off) in 14 minutes off the bench: pic.twitter.com/GHDsZDsdqm — Tomek Kordylewski (@Timi_093) October 25, 2024 Queta is also foul-and-turnover prone , but those flaws can be corrected with more floor time. Right now, he is a potential double-double guy who also is a solid rim ...

For you stat fantasy fans

We wish a very happy birthday to the great Dave Cowens! What a fierce competitor!  You can see JBs stats above JT had 25 points 11 rebounds 6 assists Do what you will with these numbers!

Cs look to cast a magical spell against the Wizards

C's are in Washington as they look to improve to 2-0. First road game of the season against a team that only won 15 games last year.    1st Q☘️         Happy Birthday to our own Jaylen Brown! He's only 28 folks and is becoming an even more elite player. C's must play hard on both ends against this young Wizards team. C's are in their black uniforms with green lettering. DWhite opens us up with a beautiful three point shot! On their very next possession we see Tatum with an easy layup. C's are pushing the pace early. As the late great Tommy Heinsohn would say RUN!       Tonight should be a very good test for these Celtics in staying focused against an inferior team. Derrick White is a very smooth player on both ends of the floor. His game fits this team like a glove! JTs fall away jumper has clearly improved since last season. His fall away reminds me of Michael Jordans. C's have caught the Wizards on opening night for them and they came ...

For you Fantasy Basketball Fans

For all you fantasy basketball fans and maybe even gamblers here's some small but powerful stats from last night.  Jayson Tatum had 37 points 4 rebounds and 10 assists.  Jaylen Brown had 23 points 7 rebounds and 1 assist.   Derrick White had 24 points 3 rebounds and 4 assists.  Jrue Holiday had 18 points 4 rebounds and 4 assists.

Jayson Tatum looking MVP-like in Celtics rout of Knicks

Only one game, but the Boston Celtics dominance over the New York Knicks in the season opener might be indicative of the entire 2024-25 season. The Green looked omnipotent against the team that may be their strongest opponent in the East.   Jayson Tatum was incredible in the win - scoring 37 points from everywhere. while handing out 10 assists with only one turnover. Jayson has mentioned himself as a potential winner of the MVP Award this season, and at least for one game - he certainly looked like one. Jayson Tatum on who will win the 2024-25 MVP Award 'Can I say myself?' 👀 pic.twitter.com/s2XGHmlNj1 — 𝕿𝖍𝖊 𝕮𝖊𝖑𝖙𝖎𝖈𝖘 𝕲𝖑𝖔𝖇𝖊 ☘️ (@CelticsGlobe) September 12, 2024 Tatum just looked in total control out on the court - absolutely confident . What happened to his 'broken shot"? He connected on 14-of-18 from the field versus the Knicks and  8-of-11 from downtown. And he made it look so easy. The final score was 132-109 in favor of Boston, and the game was...

Banner 18 has reached its Home

What a ring ceremony for your World Champion Boston Celtics!   Q1🏀       JT opens the game from way downtown!  That's how you open the season with a bang! I really need to see JT dominate this entire season. He's going to have a monster year for the C's! JB and Brunson get tangled up and the bad blood is already starting. Brunson better watch himself, JB is jacked and unafraid! If I'm taking bets, JB is my pick! Both Derrick and Al are up to their sharp shooting ways.       C's defense needs to tighten up right now! I do like how they are throwing multiple looks at Brunson. They aren't allowing him to get comfortable at all. This Celtics D is starting to swarm and make the Knicks look bad. Good timeout by Joe as he needs to refocus the team. So far the C's are moving the rock relatively well.        Off the timeout we get a beautiful play for THREE! Great play drawn up by our championship Coach Joe Mazzulla! I know I...

A Basketball Holiday

Anybody else wake up with a little extra pep in their step?! Tonight Celtics basketball returns as they hoist Banner 18. The quest for 19 starts tonight against the New York Knickerbockers. There are so many memories and moments from last season that are locked in my basketball brain. I'm waiting to fill it with even more this season. Today feels like a holiday if you love basketball as much as I do.  The Celtics have been slighted since they won banner 18. For a truly dominant team to be torn down, is a travesty. Every other champ gets their flowers. Unlike our Celtics who according to the media had the easiest path to a title. To those people I say I'm sorry this team was that damn good and kicked everyone's butts in both the regular and post season. Motivation for this team should be through the roof... Let's not forget how the Olympic team slighted JB by not even having him on the roster. They put JT on the roster only to sit him on the bench and watch as the team...

The Promise of Payton Pritchard

Yes, I know it's only pre-season, but Payton Pritchard is off to a great start. For Celtics players who have participated in all four exhibition games (all wins), Pritchard l eads the team in both points (16.3 PPG), assists (7.0 APG), 3-point % (.489) and minutes (20.3 MPG). The 6'1" guard, now in his fifth season, also registers second to Neemias Queta in field goal percentage (.485). And Pritchard continues his care with the ball, with an assist-to-turnover ratio of 7-to-1, turning the ball over only once for every seven assists. Payton Pritchard has been the second-best player of the preseason so far, per HoopsHype's Global Rating. pic.twitter.com/GEKAmysoUF — HoopsHype (@hoopshype) October 14, 2024 Payton Pritchard comes into his fifth NBA season looking like a star . Nobody works harder on the hardwood than this kid, and it has paid off - for him and his team. He looks ready to fight for that back-to-back Championship repeat.

Luke Kornet Will Be Big This Season

Luuuuuuuuuukkkkkkkkkkke!      Sitting here watching tonight's preseason game and the way the C's are feeding Luke the rock. I expect him to have a huge impact this season. There will be no KP and Al doesn't play back to backs. This will be his opportunity to show he's a solid big. The man hustles and has a high basketball IQ. He knows where to be around the rim. Solid rebounder overall and adequate on offense. Defensively he positions himself well enough to not be a liability. I'm sure he will share minutes with Till who I also expect to have a heck of a year.        Just imagine how the 5 position is going to be a strength for these C's. With Luke and Till getting more run with the top Dawgs their skill sets will grow. Add to the mix Al being Al who is solid as a rock. Then eventually when KP gets back, the league better watch out. Sleeper for the C's bigs is Quetta, expect him to get some run and show what he's working with.      ...
