Payton Pritchard looks like an "ordinary person" - except on the court

Payton Pritchard was asked about the fan support from so many Celtics faithful. His response was right on.

On the streets of Boston, you would not pick out this guy in a crowd. "Only" 6'1" in height - short, no-fuss haircut - no visible tattoos - no outrageous outfits. Just an "ordinary person".

Even on the basketball court, his movements don't suggest a high-level athlete with quickness and leaping ability. But then like last night versus the Bucks, Pritchard digs deep into his work ethic and wish (need?) to excel and explodes for major points (28 last night), dazzling accuracy (10-of-14 FG, 8-of-12 3s) and tough defense .

Payton also added five rebounds and three assists - all in under 28 minutes of play. These are hardly "ordinary" stats for an undersized guard with less-than-elite athleticism.

Payton Pritchard can be a role model for all of us "ordinary folks" plagued with shortcomings, handicaps, bad fortune and other negative issues to put in the work to achieve success. I love this kid!

In defense of Marcus Smart

Let me make it clear first of all that I am totally against making a threat of any kind that even hints at harming, or certainly killing, another human being. Marcus Smart was wrong in doing so in the Celtics loss to the tanking Oklahoma City Thunder , and he deserved the one-game suspension. But to be honest, part of me loved that it occurred. . This type of thing can happen when a player gets to a point "beyond frustration" and is having a bad game.
